  • Team Values

    1. Success is the result of daily habits.

    2. Focus on the process, and the results will take care of themselves.

    3. Two is better than one, if two can work as one.

    4. Those who do not think outside of the box, are easily contained.

    5. It’s hard to beat a person who never gives up.

  • Coaching Style

    Curiosity

I highly value experimentation, new ideas and perspectives. There is always something new to learn, a different way to see something, and a desire to better understand the personalities of individual players.

    Courage

I am not afraid to take risks, tell hard truths, or stand up for my values and principles.

    Compassion

The ability to relate to an individuals emotions and feelings, and serve them by helping to alleviate their challenges. In the case of a coach, this is the key to foster trust and understanding.

Waxers Coaching Staff

  • MIKHAIL GRABOVSKI

    HEAD COACH

Drafted by the Montreal Canadiens in 2004, Grabovski won the Calder Cup for Montreal's AHL affiliate, the Hamilton Bulldogs. He led all NHL Eastern Conference rookies in scoring during his first full season for the Toronto Maples, ultimately playing over 500 games in the NHL. After an illustrious NHL career, Mikhail brings his passion, expertise and wealth of experience to the development of aspiring hockey players. He previously spent two seasons as an assistant coach with Dynamo Minsk of the KHL, has worked with the Belarus National Team in a GM and consultant capacity, and most recently focused his efforts in youth hockey development.

  • NIKOLAI KULEMIN

    ASSISTANT COACH

Known for his relentless work ethic, calm demeanor, and patient, detail-driven approach, Kulemin blends world-class playing experience with a deep passion for teaching the next generation. Drafted by the Toronto Maple Leafs, Kulemin quickly established himself as a versatile, dependable forward, highlighted by his 30-goal season in 2010-11 — a rare feat for a two-way player. His NHL career spanned nearly 700 games with the Leafs and Islanders, where his combination of work ethic, defensive awareness, and offensive touch made him a trusted presence in any situation.

  • ILYA SPEKTOR

    ASSISTANT COACH
Ilya’s playing career saw him crowned a 2014-15 NA3EHL Champion in Junior A hockey, followed by back-to-back World Championship (D2B) appearances from 2021 to 2023. Most recently, he added IEHL Champion (2021-23) and Israel Champion (2023-24) to his resume — achievements that speak to both his leadership and competitive spirit. Armed with a BA in Physical Education in Sport, as well as coaching and fitness diplomas, Ilya combines formal education with over 10 years of hands-on coaching experience, spanning youth development to national teams.

  • ANTHONY MCGREGOR

    STRENGTH & CONDITIONING COACH

A former Jamaican Olympian, Anthony represented Jamaica in the long jump at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, achieving a personal best of 8.08 meters in the same year. Transitioning from international competition to coaching, Anthony has dedicated himself to developing athletes across various levels. His training philosophy emphasizes speed, strength, mobility, and injury prevention, aiming to enhance each player's performance on the ice.

Coach Grabovski

“I am excited to take this team into next season with a new winning culture. To build a team which will have the highest goals possible. For me, what we do off the ice is as important as what we do on the ice. Creating our team’s values and principles together, pledging to improve every day, and having the families support our mission, will lead to the greatest success for all.”
